¡Bienvenidos!
Welcome to the Regis in Ecuador 2014 Blog! Here we will provide daily updates and reflection writings from the brave Regians volunteering two weeks of their summers hoping to make a difference at The Working Boys Center in Quito, Ecuador.
Comments? Questions? Drop us a line here. Check out important links to the right. Read on after the jump for more background on our involvement with this wonderful place!
The Working Boys’ Center has elevated tens of thousands of Quito’s working poor from poverty since its founding in 1964. Each summer, it also plays host to countless high school students seeking to offer their gifts and multiply this abundance of grace.
Ever since the "intrepid" Jim Scacalossi first led a handful Regians to “El Centro” in 1994, Regis has been one such school with a special share in this life-changing community. Given the miracles of generosity Regians are privy to every day, the strength of our commitment is only natural.
But it just so happens that this is quite a year for celebrations: 20 years of Regis in Ecuador, 50 years of a Family of Families, and 100 years of Teaching Generosity. And so we take to the blog, spreading the word for all who will listen!
Follow us as nine Regians -- eight rising seniors and one alumnus chaperone -- recount our experiences in the spirit of giving, discovery, and adventure.
Saludos,
Frank Aguilar ‘15, Brandon Baldovin ‘15, David Boak ‘15, Joe Caparelli ‘15, Jared D’Sa ‘15, Mike Flood ‘15, William Lajes ‘15, Elliott Sanchez ‘15, and Joe Quinn ‘04
